If you would like to run your own course, you are most welcome to
so do, but we would be grateful if you could acknowledge COSBART
authors as a courtesy. All PDF downloads have feints of COSBART and
Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust which does this job very easily.
In order to run the course you will need to assess your own
requirements based on departmental size. In general where trusts
allow monthly or bi-monthly SpA clinical governance meetings, this
allows one section of a department to undertake the course at a
time. A ratio of 3 or 4 participants to one facilitator is generally
successful, but do allow at least 30 minutes setting up and
dismantling at the start and finish. A typical course will have
10-12 participants and 3-4 facilitators allowing 60 to 100
participants per annum, more than adequate for the average
department. It is strongly suggested that you enlist your
resuscitation officer’s assistance.
It is very useful to send out to all participants a week or two in
advance a summary of topics that are likely to be discussed and the
practical procedures that will be practised. This allows
participants to 'revise' topics if they wish, and reduces any
anxieties they may have about the course, but in fact, most find the
course thoroughly enjoyable and without stress.
